We were hired by the
History Channel to work on the filming of Lonesome Dove. We used
my old mule Leon to do the part were they take Gus’s body back
to TX. His wish was to be buried in TX and they buried him on
the plains of NM. We used our flare box wagon and Leon, my old,
in his 20’s Belgian mule. Then we used Pecos War Eagle and his
full sister Pecos Jewell to pull a chuck wagon. They were so
good to stand for hours of filming of Lowell hooking them.
